I added music the other day to this unit and I released it as normal from windows but it glitched I think. When I play the unit it will play a few songs then suddenly indicate that the format is incorrect. All files are MP3 and previously played. Even songs that previously played won't play.

I connected the unit to the firmware upgrade tool and it shows LISONG MP3 Player, Wilson Co.LTD...VER 9.0.48.

I'm assuming that I need to either re-format or install the system software but I can't seem to locate Ver 9.0.48 or model MPX661 to cross reference.

I tried searching both numbers with no joy.

If someone could point me in the right direction I will read on the proper process to fix it..

I've kind of invested a bit of time in this thing. I broke the glass on it 2 days after I got it and dissected, cut and replaced the glass and now quite enjoy its quality and features..

Thank You.

It sounds to me like your player's file system is corrupted. You might first try to format the players flash and see if you can then load and play back files. Before you format your player, make a note of the folder/directory structure, you will probably have to recreate it later after formatting.

When you disconnected your player - did you click on the "safe to remove hardware" icon in the lower right hand corner of windows? (I'm assuming that you are using windows, if you are using a mac it works differently). If you did not click on this icon, you really should and follow the instructions/stop the appropriate drive volume. The reason you should use this windows feature is because windows may indiciate that it wrote all of your files to your external device but in reality it is slowly writing them out in a background service. Clicking on this icon and selecting to remove/stop an external device will cause windows to finish writing out files to the external device and properly and properly release the file system. If you did do the "safe to remove hardware" icon, please ignore this public service announcement Wink

Ok, if you tried formatting out your drive and you still have problems then it is possible that you have a problem with the firmware or perhaps some kind of hardware failure.

I hope some of this helps,

David

Thank You David...I apreciate the responce..
I normally do the proper release procedure but I think what happened was the cable got pulled a bit and disconnected prematurely.

I will do as you suggest but I was wondering if you know were I can find the files for it. I saw similar pictures in the picture section. It has NOMA on the bottom.

It has a M at the top of the functions circle, Rew, Play, FF across the middle and a VOL at the bottom of the function circle. 1.2 X 1 screen. Its a IPOD Mini clone. Model MPX661.

Thank You David.

iPOD clones are notoriously bad for support and for finding firmware updates. Most of the time a no-name manufacturer does one or two production runs and then moves on to another product.

I'm not familiar with a brand called "Noma" - I assume that you did an
internet search for this and came up empty for what you wanted.

The unfortunate fact is that you may never find a firmware update for your player. I would not try to update the firmware unless you are 100% sure that you have the right firmware file for your exact player. If you burn the wrong firmware file you will most likely render your player useless. Some companies make more than one model that look identical but are different on the inside - if you do a search on this forum you can find lots of threads saying this same thing.

How long ago did you buy this player?

Cheers,

David

I bought it at a stereo shop and the guy bought through a passing wholesaler...so your absolutely right.. Its not that important to upgrade it I guess its just a handy little thing.

I did what you suggested and formatted the thing and re did the folder structure and it seems to be back to normal. Thank You.

Thank You again for your help its been great and I really apreciate it. I'm glad I found this site as I do a fair amount of importing from time to time for companies and I sometimes have issues with the scam artist emails with Alibaba. Only that they over power all my email accounts and I end up doing more filtering than actually buying..

Again Thank You David
