Hi There,
I think my previous message disappeared? I cannot get my new player to play vids and its sposed to be easy. I came here in the past to learn how to use my old mp3-4 player and got great help then, and my one still works. However for a birthday gift I purchased one for my husband...mp4-5. See specs below.
Also it did not come with a disk...is that common? My last one did...
And when I have tried to convert files to what looks compatible to size, nothing seems to work...when I go to play it I of course get a format error. HELP!!!
Thanks much....Kiwimagic in NZ

thanks
for a start the specs you gave dont match the image in the link
does your player have screw on the side of the player body, i am assuming your player does not look exactly like this and the specs on the site, if your player is like this are wrong
if theplayer is like the one shown then it will support these formats only
RM, RMVB, AVI, FLV
not al those listed, they are specs for another type of chip used in chinese player
what are the video you are trying to load and what are there settings
try search and download gspot to examine your files |

I am going to see about returning this item to the seller as there are too many problems to solve.....I plug in first and my system picks up a virus, that it cleans...then need to reboot to get the thing to read in computer.
Then files I cannot delete that return with 0kb and say they are corrupt...i try to remove with my unlocker...occasionally can remove thru deleting thru the player...touch and go, on and off....video that wont play...etc.
Yes the player I have is the same in the picture with screws on side...and I have tried to load the avi, flash as they come from youtube and using converter to make smaller to mp4 file ...nothing works. I downloaded what you suggested? Not sure how to use it at this stage to resolve issues...which are overwhelming me as I have spent hours figuring out how to use this Chinese player.
I must have a lemon.
Cheers

Thanks for your assistance...I decided to courier the player back to the seller tomorrow and to do my research before buying a good player again.
I would appreciate any suggestions you or anyone here may have...best buy, easy functions and easy to load on vids and music, etc. I still would at some stage appreciate to buy a player that has a large screen and large storage capacity....thanks....
Cheers

I have just recieved a player today that sounds like yours with a 3" screen, (looks like the Onda 747).
First impressions besides looking like it is a used player with scrartches on the screen.
Is not recognized by USB port.
Managed to get it recognized once for about 20 seconds, long enough to try and load a video, started to load and then was not recognized again before the file was finished, resulting in "file format error".
Player arrived with no life in battery, it has now been on charge for 4 hours with only 1/3 life showing on the battery meter.
No file can be deleted on player, I tried to delete my unfinished download but there doeasnt appear to be any way to do this. I even tried to delete one of the songs that came with the player and the X tab on the player does not work.
Firmware seems to be unfinished.
Touchscreen is unresponsive.
Nothing on the CD that came with player will unload onto my PC, in other words its a totally useless waste of disk.
I have just Emailed the seller and awaiting a response, but already hace another one of these players arriving in the next few days from the same seller...Oh dear..Doom
On the plus side the Video and Audio that came pre-installed looked and sounded pretty good, so aside from the scratches I think this player needs a serious firmware upgrade to sort all its problems out. |

Ok, Ive had 24 hours to try and get this player working and it is!
The Importance of using good leads.
Its been said many times here to try a different lead, yesterday I didnt have another lead to try with the player but as I could use another player with no problems with the same lead (somehow managed to lose the original lead for this player so its been sitting in the draw for over a week) I wrongly assumed that it must be the player at fault and not the lead.
I think the tolerances on the USB sockets in theses players are not all the same, infact I now know they are not.
I had a couple more different players arrive this morning and thought I would try a different lead from one of these players on the MP5,, low and behold it worked. So if anyone reckons its not the lead because it works for something else, think again and keep 2-3 leads handy.
Right, next point regarding Kiwimagics problem of not playing videos.
I have found so far that the player will only play videos that have been directly ripped from dvd and in the little yellow windows file that I send to my desktop when ripping. The file Icon with Windows media player on, although it is Avi does not play, I dont know why because as far as Im aware they are the same files accept maybe labelled differently. Im going to play around with this today, so I,ll let you know more as I find out.
The picture can be very dark and the colours are a bit too strong so I will try and sort that out by ripping with Vidrop and changing the parameters, other than that the lip sync stays ok although I do notice once in a while a skipped frame but nothing like as bad as the Rockchip 320x 240 mp4 players, its probably only noticable to me because im really looking for it.
If your thinking of getting one of these players just hang on a few days till Ive had time to really play about with it and find all its bugs. |

Heres a quickie for you, the audio on this player is top notch, this player has a seriously good sound, far better than the Onda v85 clones which use another Rockchip as far as Im aware.
The sound is detailed with a tight but full base, if you mainly listen to music then this player does rock, I would like to see how it sounds with good quality ear buds, as it is with the cheap chineese buds it still sounds pretty dam good. Very impressed with Audio at least so far. |

Hi Hawk,
What is the name of the player that you re referring to? Do you have a link to info about it, as I would like to look into it. I have returned the other player because frankly there were too many issues, and my sense is that it was indeed defective.
I am on the hunt for a dependable and easy to work with player, with as big of a screen as possible and high quality sound. The music is most important and the videos of course are a major plus too or wouldn't be investing in a mp4-5 player...
Thanks...
Regards

I have a clone of this player-
http://mp4nation.net/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25&products_id=129
I did not buy from the vendor in the image/link.
Having played around with this player for a few days I would say it is a big improvement over the MP4 players I have used so far, it is so easy to copy a DVD and transfer straight over to the player with no worries about skipping and lip sync problems. I have ripped DVDs without even looking at the output resolutions or audio and the file loads straight away.
A copy of shrek plays really well on this player, I would say the animated films are perfect for the machine, other people who have seen and heard the film playing were equally impressed.
The video is pretty close to the 320x240 rockchip AVI players but without any of the issues that come with these players.
Watching Saw4 was a really imersive experience with some pretty jumpy moments and that I should add is from someone that doesnt really jump much when watching a film. The sound quality definately plays its part here.
Having said all that, the player has to go back because I have been sent a used player with a dudd battery that only lasts 1 hour after a 8 hour charge, I should be getting another in a day or 2 so I should see what the players like with a good battery. |

Well, my other player arrived today (same model, same vendor) and he has sent me another factory misfit/return. This one has quite clearly been opened, you can see marks around the edges and some deformation of the casing, the innards are loose and rattle about and the screen has scratches on the surface which have been put there deliberatel by the looks of it (they are criss crossed and one diagonal). I think the factory must do this to prevent them being re-sold by employees, thats my theory anyway, I cant see any other explanation.
I will purchase the same model again from a different vendor as I really like this player now, assuming everything was new and fully functional.
Ok, I also had a few more arrive today, they are clones of the Ramos 970, which is a good little player.
These are the exact same barring the Ramos name, they use the same chip, come with the same pre-loaded videos and photos. Even the user manual tells you the firmware is ramos970.
The video is superb, I was blown away with the demo video, it is crystal clear, sharp and smooth. Theres always a but though, the video I have transfered is very dark on this player so Im messing about with different brightness levels at the moment. Also the player doesnt seem to re-size to full screen automatically, although it will play them just as easy as the other model.
Sound is again top notch. So far Ive been impressed considering the bargain basement price.
Ill keep you posted. |

makd511.
I am buying the players from different ebayers and also some other places, I am trying to find the most reliable sources at the moment.
You are right, the 747 clone does use the rockchip as does the ramos clone, but then again the ramos uses the rockchip anyway, which isnt a bad thing for either player.
Also, the firmware is slightly different.
I have discovered the ramos clone also uses microsoft fx in the audio, the player Im using has 4 screws around the casing. There will be some differences, the most obvious in the firmware (even though the manual states Ramos970 firmware can be used, I wouldnt like to try it).
The harware looks identical. |

yep, the ramos firmware wont work on the ones with screws on, and is it also a 2.8" screen as opposed to 3"
all new rockchips have playFX as standard now and is quite good
also i have a ramos rm970 and i tried to brick it with firmware from one of those players you have and it did not do so, so may be hard to actually load wrong firmware on the new rockchip players
also its possible to extract the firmware from these players by a button combination or addition of a small file |
