Yes, i've looked at every Rk27xx firmware on http://www.qqmp4.net/

I found you can pretty much mix around everything and the player will still boot up, but you can't get much in the way of extra functionality, all I have able to do so far was move the text on the player by swapping the CWIDTH16.BIN with the CWIDTH24.BIN renamed to CWIDTH16.BIN

The one to crack is BASE.RKW for extra functionality, problem is if you play with that the slightest, then the player doesn't boot up, there is some checking going on and it takes place within BASE.RKW itself.

I've swopped around REGISTER.DAT and the codecs, no problems, if you swap BMP0.BIN around the player will still boot up, but of course all the pictures are messed up and in the wrong place Wink

Hi,
Iīm an owner of a VX747 Clone. It looks like this one:

from KINGZON. Display is 3" with real 8GB flash and touchscreen. firmware is RK27SDK v1.2, Hardware ID 080422.
The gamepad icon on the desktop is named calendar and after a click on it there is only a menu to select a stop watch Rolling Eyes

Iīve played arround with some other firmware but nothing works. The player didnīt start and the screen was white. But with help of this forum I could recover every time back to my backup firmware Wink
The only one working is the VX747 firmware from the download location. It looks like my firmware and itīs working (http://www.mympxplayer.org/rockchip-firmware-clone-vx747-rk2706-df897.html)

Is there a way to add new codecīs to play mpg files?
I have tried to copy extracted files from another firmware to my player (Register.dat, rk_mpeg0.out, rk_mpeg2.out or rk_mpeg4.out) but the player did not start after a reset.

... btw, great forum with a great community !

Ango,

I'm afraid that you are stuck with the file formats that come with that player. While there are ways to change background themes and some other stuff, the file formats that the player supports are part of the actual firmware itself. This can only be changed by the manufacturer because they have the source code for the firmware.

unfortunately just adding the codec files is no good, the BASE file, or core firmware code needs to reference them and pull them in to the main firmware for use, so it will not recognise them at all without this

we will have to hope that later batches of these player include a newer firmware

i did ask tinydeal about updates!!!, they were adamant that none of their players would recieve updates, which is pretty much what i expected

this is a shame as the base rockchip firmware has now added several new movie formats, audio and video resume and even game emulation and with these cheap, one shot players, we will never see these updates

in nfact, actually, try load a game rom, go to explorer and select the file and see if it works, i know on the s:flo that no icon is present for games, but it will work if you select the game file direct - may be worth a shot

well my fake onda vx747 rockchip player i got from tinydeal has decided to commit suicide

now i bought this player purely to test and see the quality of these cheap no-name players, but my daughter kinda adopted this thing and as such i have done nothing with it in terms of modding, hacking, taking apart etc

so basically through no reason at all its just gone and lost the firmware partition .. its just gone, wont boot up now, recognise the main memory only

now this players was faulty from the start, earphone jack knacked, i was gonna fix it but my daughter mainly uses it with the speaker so i did not bother

anyway, i am now gonna do some recovery

this is not good, and i am just about ready to do my review on this player, i know its been a while but i never do reviews until i have had a player for a good while, just in case things go wrong down the line and i don't like to recommend unless i am totally sure, needles to say i will not be giving this player a glowing report

anyway, let you all know how i get on

cheap junk!!!

yes, It seems these players are just made to make a quick buck out of buyers who want a player to look like an ipod, it's the vx858 all over again.

When I lost my 60mb partition I had to do the pin shorting trick to get S-flo toolkit to recognise it, but the problem was my own fault, i was "experimenting" Embarassed with firmware at the time, I can't say I have any problems with normal use.

First thanx for reply.

My boot partition was often gone after playing around with firmware.
If nothing worked Iīve used RK27DM.exe from a M400 firmeware and used Recover option, something with "(R)" between japanese signs Confused
You have also install rockusb27.inf first otherwise the update wont start.

Ok, the player wasnīt working right after that, cause itīs a wrong firmware, but after copy rkusb.tag & teclast.sys to the main partion and a reboot I could see the boot partition and I could copy my backup output folder back.

Think knob and makd511 are right. We need to hack the Base.rkw Wink

Does this player from TinyDeal have a TV out function? I found a player that looks just like it on another web page, and it supposedly has TV out. It's here:

No, this player doesn't have a TV out function at TinyDeal. the only TV out function RK2706 player is this http://www.tinydeal.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_93&products_id=584 at TinyDeal.

Btw, I have received 3 of this player http://www.tinydeal.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_93&products_id=427 from TinyDeal. These players came with a bad programmed firmware: the sound volume is not adjustable anyway. I reported this problem at TinyDeal, but they didn't gave a useful answer. I experienced that always, they have no competent employees to solve technical problems. They providing some downloadable firmwares not compatible with the actual players, just brick them, if anybody make an update with them.

Hmm, I wonder of XProShop is selling the same player and listed their specs wrong, or if it really is a different player with TV out.

Also, do any of these players have a hold switch? And how does the MicroSD expansion card work? Is it pretty much transparent to the user, or do you have to select whether you want to play stuff from the internal memory or the card?

There is no TV out on my player from Tinydeal, not sure about the hold function, my player came with the wrong instructions.! Wink

The microSD card is mounted by the player seperately, you can't access media on both card and main memory at the same time, which is a bit of a pain, all players with sd slots seem to work this way Sad

There's hold function of the touch screen players, the others have no. The only slide switch is the on/off button.

there is actually a tv out version of this player out and about in china, several china companies have re branded it, but as alway when buying from sites like that do research, send email and get full confirm

also look at the problems associated with these cheap players, knobs audio jack was faulty, taking it apart was the fix, my player audio jack was broken from start and now randomly loses the firmware, and bencebacsi has 3 players with faults ... is it worth t in the end, cheap yes, but at what cost, many peole who buy are not tech minded and will be lost or out of pocket

well, i have recovered my 747 rockchip fake POS

did not go quite as planned but worked anyway

so i used the sfloupdate files from mp4nation

i started the RK27DM program
plugged in the player and the program recognised it
the 1st button "U" was not active, so i pressed the "R" button
this brought up a failed message
so i unplugged the player and plugged back in
windows started the new hardware wizard and asked for drivers
i pointed it to the rkusb drivers and let it install then
looked in explorer and the drive was back again, but not formatted
so i formatted the drive, and copied the files back over and alll worked
good thing is that the main partition was not formatted

so all was back in action

no i wonder if the "R" button means Recovery, there is a small "setup.rkw" file with the rk27dm download, it could be copying this to the player, so when you restart it calls that into play to as for the drivers

wonder if you just copy that file next time to the main drive and reconnect that it may initiate the call for driver to get back the partition, i may try this again to see if it woorks, if so this could be an easy way to recovery
